About Lavender Blue

Hi, I am Heather. Welcome to Lavender Blue, a blog about my experiences with food and recollections of my life and travels.

As far as cooking goes, I am really best at and most comfortable with baking. In fact, I originally started out this blog with every intention of it being primarily about baking, even though it has really become more of mix of any sort of cooking.

My grandmother taught me to taste everything once and cooked foods from all different cultures, which clearly has rubbed off on me. I gravitate towards new and unusual ingredients and am very willing to try foods from all over the world, especially Asian cuisines.  I grew up in NY, but I have lived many places across the US, as well as Germany and England.  I picked up a lot of great regional recipes along the way, which I hope to share with you.

I hope you will enjoy reading about my adventures in the kitchen and give some of these recipes a try.

  1. Gday I often think about how best to do this! So when you copy the recipes (at the end part of your blog) where do you copy them to? Your hard drive or yet ANOTHER cookbook that has just copied recipes you want to save :) Thanks! Hope you have a great day WHOO HOO!

  2. I have a program called "Mastercook" designed for recipe storage. The storage allows me to create numerous digital cookbooks. I have one I call "Cookbook Clippings" another called "TV Recipes" another called "Friends & Family" and so on.

    I also have some binders where I store any photocopies of recipes.
